A Stitch in Spare Time

Today was a pretty relaxing day and evening. I watched Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model whilst sat down with some knitting needles and red and black wool. I just decided to see where it took me really. I have a vague idea of wanting to make my mum some nice little plaques for her bedroom and this was sort of an experiment for one. I think I will redo it, as well as some more, in a different colour, as the red would clash with her current decor.

Anyway, this is what I ended up with:
Sorry the picture is not the best quality, as it was taken on my webcam. I still have to sew the ends of the wool in, but it turned out pretty well I think, since I have never really attempted complicated patterns before. It is a simple stocking stitch (knit a row, purl a row) to make it a nice smooth texture and wasn't really done with that much of a pattern. The height of it is 17 stitches, with 3 stitches at the top and bottom left free from pattern to create the border, thus meaning the letters' height is 11 stitches. Anyone who can do basic knitting should be able to create this I am sure =) I am pretty much a novice and am quite proud that I managed to pull it off with relative ease.

So yes, a lovely relaxing night that ended up with something coming out of it. Now, just to decide what to do with it!
